The UK standard footprint
1000 × 1200 mm is the UK standard pallet size, and for domestic distribution it is normally the right answer. Warehouses, racking and vehicles in the UK are laid out around it, so a Euro-footprint pallet in a UK racking bay leaves 200 mm of beam doing nothing on every position.
If goods cross into Europe, that logic reverses and the 800 × 1200 BCLP800 becomes the better choice.

The pallet base has a reticular structure with good mechanical characteristics and a perimetric groove for housing the sleeve, so the sleeve seats positively rather than resting on the deck.
Sleeved returnable packaging
Base, sleeve and lid are separate components. The sleeve collapses onto the base when the box is empty, so far more empties fit on a returning vehicle than would fit as full-height boxes. For closed-loop deliveries that is the number the business case turns on.
Where packaging never comes back, a sleeved system is the wrong economics — the saving is entirely on the return leg.
