A 1140 mm square in heavy duty

A square pallet has no long axis, so it can be approached, set down and turned through ninety degrees without anything about the handling changing. On turntable wrappers and rotating transfer stations that removes a decision from every cycle.

In heavy duty the square shape brings one specific thing to check: span. A pallet supported at its ends across 1140 mm has a longer unsupported distance than a Euro pallet across its 800 mm axis, and a longer span deflects more under the same load. In plastic that deflection builds slowly, over months in racking rather than failing on the day, which is why steel reinforcement changes racked ratings on square pallets far more than it changes the headline static figure.

So compare these on the racked rating, not the static one, unless the pallets are block stacked on a solid floor.
