Low profile, and when height is the constraint
A robust 100% polyethylene spill pallet, fully compliant, for four 205 litre drums, with a removable plastic grid. The difference from the standard four-drum unit is height.
Where low profile wins
Three situations make height the deciding factor. Drums have to be rolled or tipped onto the bund by hand rather than lifted — every extra centimetre of bund height makes that harder and more dangerous. The bund sits under a shelf, a pipe run or a low doorway. Or the drum is decanted from by tap, and a high bund puts the tap above a comfortable working height.
In all three the standard-height unit is technically fine and practically wrong.
The trade-off to check
Lower profile usually means a shallower sump. Check the stated containment capacity against your regulation before choosing on height alone — if your site works to a percentage-of-total-volume rule with four full drums, a shallow sump may not satisfy it.
Removable grid
Allows the sump to be inspected and emptied, which is what keeps the stated capacity real rather than theoretical.
