Spill Pallets

Beecraft UK Ltd’s range of Spill/Bund pallets are an ideal and flexible solution for creating workstations and storage areas. As well as being able to catch minor leaks and spills, they are also the perfect option for storing smaller drums and containers. With their compact and lightweight design they can easily fit into small areas, are robust yet easy to clean and are compatible with most liquids.
Each unit can either be used separately or can be combined with bund connectors to create large work floor areas which are fully compliant with current oil storage regulations. Ramps may be added to aid access to differing surfaces and the grid mesh decks can be easily removed.

Sizing a spill pallet correctly

Containment capacity has to be justified against what sits above it, and the rule your site works to changes the answer completely. Some regulations require the capacity of the largest single container; others a percentage of the total volume stored.

With four full 205 litre drums — 820 litres above the bund — those two rules give very different numbers, and a bund that satisfies the first can fail the second. Establish which applies before assuming a unit is adequate.

Beyond capacity, three practical choices: four-way forklift access where bunds are repositioned often, because a loaded bund is a heavy, high load with liquid in it; low profile where drums are rolled or tipped on by hand rather than lifted, or where the bund sits under a shelf or pipe run; and a removable grid, which is what allows the sump to be inspected and emptied. A sump half full of rainwater has lost half its capacity before any incident.
