The square footprint
1200 × 1200 mm is square, and that is the reason to choose it. Square loads — drums, IBC-style containers, square bulk bags, cylindrical goods packed in a square array — overhang a rectangular pallet on two sides, and overhang is what gets caught and damaged in racking and in transit.
It is the largest footprint in the Lite Box range. If your load is rectangular, one of the 1000 × 1200 or 800 × 1200 sizes will use vehicle space better.
Base and sleeve
The pallet base has a reticular structure with good mechanical characteristics and a perimetric groove that houses the sleeve, so the sleeve locates into the base rather than sitting on it.
Handling a square pallet
A square footprint can be picked up from any side, which is genuinely useful in a cell where the load is approached from different directions. The trade is vehicle fill: square pallets rarely tessellate as tightly on a standard trailer bed as 1200 × 800 or 1200 × 1000.
