What a closed deck is for
No gaps in the top surface. Small items, powders and bagged product cannot drop through, and the deck can be washed down properly because there are no edges and voids for residue to sit in.
The trade against an open deck is weight and drainage: a closed deck is heavier, and liquid that lands on it stays there rather than running through. For most food, pharmaceutical and small-component work that is the right trade.
Strong, and what that means in practice
A heavier build for loads that would work a standard Euro pallet too hard over time. Plastic pallets rarely fail on a single lift — they deflect gradually under repeated load, and the heavier build is what slows that.
Export
Plastic sits outside ISPM 15, so no heat treatment or fumigation certificate is needed before an export consignment moves. For exporters that is usually the reason the conversation starts.
