A cost-effective export pallet
A lightweight 1000 × 1200 mm export pallet used across pharmaceuticals, chemicals, meat, foods, snacks and electronics.
Why exporters move off timber
Three reasons, in order of how often they decide it. ISPM 15: timber crossing borders needs heat treatment or fumigation and a certificate, and plastic does not. Weight: every kilogram of pallet is payload you are not shipping, and on weight-rated freight that is money. Consistency: a plastic pallet arrives the same dimensions it left, so automated handling at the far end does not reject it.
One-way economics
Export pallets usually do not come back. That changes the calculation completely: you are not buying service life, you are buying the lowest cost that gets the load there intact and clears customs without a certificate.
That is why lightweight pallets exist as a separate class rather than everyone buying heavy duty and using it for everything.
The UK standard footprint
1000 × 1200 mm suits UK racking and vehicle patterns. For European destinations the 800 × 1200 Euro footprint in the lightweight range is the better match.
