How do returnable systems change the cost picture?
A one-trip pallet is an expense per shipment. A returnable pallet is an asset with a cycle count, and the arithmetic is different: the unit price matters far less than how many trips it survives and how much handling damage it absorbs. That is why we quote load ratings and expected duty by model rather than offering a headline durability claim across the range.
It also puts weight on inspection discipline. The Health and Safety Executive’s guidance note PM15 states that all pallets should be inspected every time they are used, and that damaged pallets should be marked, isolated and withdrawn for repair or disposal. On a returnable fleet that inspection is what protects both the people handling it and the cycle economics.
