Three runners, five metal tubes
Monobloc industrial pallet with three runners and five metal tube reinforcements on 1000 × 1200 mm. Built for capacity and rack security in general industrial use.
Reinforcement is about deflection, not breaking
Plastic pallets rarely fail suddenly. What they do is deflect under sustained load, and a deflected pallet in a beam rack is one whose load is no longer sitting where the rack expects it. Metal tubes resist that deflection over time, which is the difference between a pallet rated for racking and one rated only for handling.
Three runners against five
Three runners give two-way entry and span a beam. The BCMM51210-O5 is the five-runner version of the same pallet: more bearing points, better on roller conveyors and chain transfer, and heavier.
The honest test is whether your handling needs it. Forks only and straightforward racking: three. Automated transfer, or loads at the top of the rating: five.
Monobloc
Moulded as a single piece. No joints or fixings means nothing to work loose over years of reuse, which is what justifies the purchase price against a cheaper assembled pallet.

Reinforcement, and the failure it prevents

The failure reinforcement prevents is not a dramatic one. Plastic pallets under sustained racked load sag slowly — weeks and months, not seconds — and a sagging pallet transfers its load to the beam in a way the rack was not designed for. Metal tubes resist that creep.
This is why a pallet can hold a test load fine and still be unsuitable for racking. The test is time, not weight.
Three runners
Two-way entry, beam spanning, lighter than the five-runner BCMM51210-O5. Specify five only if pallets meet roller conveyors or chain transfer, or if loads sit near the top of the rating.
Monobloc for reuse
One moulded piece, no joints or fixings. Assembled pallets fail where they are joined; this one wears instead, which means it can be inspected and retired on schedule rather than failing while loaded.
That only pays back if pallets come back. For one-way shipping, lightweight pallets are the right economics.
