Beecraft supplies plastic pallets across Wolverhampton and the Black Country from its Coventry depot, a straight run up the M6 and M54. The range covers heavy-duty rackable, spill-containment and bunded, hygienic and export pallets, plus pallet boxes and Euro containers. Stock lines are typically delivered next working day.
Wolverhampton and the boroughs around it still make and finish metal: drop forgings, pressings, fasteners, springs, tube, aluminium extrusion, castings, and the plating shops that feed them. At M54 junction 2, i54 South Staffordshire has layered advanced manufacturing on top of that base.
Metal loads behave differently from almost anything else that goes on a pallet, and the differences point the same way — the datasheet headline is not the number you need.
A box of fasteners or a coil concentrates weight on a very small area. Published ratings assume a uniformly distributed load; a point load through a stillage foot is a different question. Ask before you buy.
Timber soaks up cutting oil and becomes a disposal and fire question. Plastic degreases and goes straight back into the loop, which is why washdown decks earn their money in a machine shop.
Every polymer has a working temperature range, and parts coming warm off a process can sit outside it. Tell us the temperature at the point of contact and we will say whether it is in range.
Sharp edges matter too. Steel offcuts and untrimmed pressings punish an open deck; a closed or reinforced deck lasts longer and stops swarf dropping onto the load below. See the polymers we use.
If you store oil at business premises in England you are likely to have secondary containment duties — something under the container that catches what comes out. Bunded and spill pallets are one way of meeting them, and they are why many Black Country enquiries reach us.
Which rules bite depends on your site. Oil storage above a threshold volume at business premises is regulated, and permitted sites — much of the surface treatment and plating in Willenhall, Darlaston and Bilston — usually carry containment conditions written into the permit. The capacity required is not one national figure: it depends on which regulations apply to your site and on the container size. Work it out from the GOV.UK guidance and your permit.
Local geography sharpens the point. Black Country yards drain to surface water systems reaching the Tame and then the Trent, not to a treatment works. Oil leaving a yard gully is a pollution incident, and the clean-up costs more than the bund would have.
We will not claim a product satisfies a regulation at your site, because containment is assessed as a system — where it stands, how the area drains, how often it is checked. We supply the format and tell you what it holds, so it can go into your own assessment.
Start from the container, not the catalogue. Drum count, whether you decant and whether it lives outdoors decide almost everything.
| What you are storing | Usual format | Why it is chosen | What decides the specification |
|---|---|---|---|
| One or two 205-litre drums at the point of use | Two-drum spill pallet | Sits under the drums where decanting actually happens | The containment capacity your rules require, worked from the largest container |
| A drum store of four or more containers | Four-drum pallet or linked bunded platform | One bund under the whole store is easier to inspect than four small ones | Floor loading, forklift access and how you empty the sump |
| An IBC of coolant, cutting oil or cleaning chemical | IBC bund with a dispensing shelf | Catches tap drips, which is where most losses actually come from | Whether the tap is used daily — that changes the shelf and grate |
| Small containers, decanted at a bench | Low-profile drip tray or bunded workbench | Inexpensive, movable, keeps the spill off the floor | Compatibility with what you decant — send the safety data sheet |
| Anything kept outdoors in a yard | Covered or hard-top bunded unit | Rain fills an open bund and consumes the capacity you are relying on | UV exposure, yard drainage, and how you manage rainwater |
| Waste oil awaiting collection | Sealed bund, clearly marked, no drain plug | A plug is a leak path and a marked bund survives an inspection | Your waste carrier’s requirements and any permit conditions |
The Black Country runs on our Coventry depot at 209 Torrington Avenue: up the M6 and out on the M54 or A454, around forty miles. Bunded products are bulky, so tell us the access before we load.
On emissions charging: Wolverhampton and the Black Country boroughs sit outside Birmingham’s charging Clean Air Zone, which covers the city centre inside the ring road, and our route runs the M6 and M54 rather than through it. Coventry operates no charging zone.
The Coventry depot covers Wolverhampton alongside Birmingham and the wider Midlands. Multi-site buyers can consolidate onto one delivery.
A bunded pallet can form part of how you meet a secondary containment duty, but compliance is assessed on the whole arrangement, not the product alone — capacity, siting, drainage and inspection all count. The capacity you need depends on which regulations apply to your site and on the container size, so check the GOV.UK oil storage guidance and your permit conditions. We tell you what a bund holds; the compliance judgement is yours.
Usually, but compatibility is not a yes or no answer. It turns on the polymer, the substance, its concentration, the temperature and how long contact lasts — a brief splash differs from permanent immersion. Send the safety data sheet for what you actually use and we will tell you whether the material suits it.
Not without checking. Polymers have working temperature limits and parts coming off a hot process can exceed them, which shows up as softening or deformation under load rather than as an obvious break. Tell us the temperature at the point of contact and the dwell time and we will say whether it is within range.
Yes to both, and no charging Clean Air Zone applies at either. Birmingham’s zone covers its city centre only, and our route runs the M6 and M54 rather than through it. Give us the unit number and any goods-in booking window and we will work to it.
Stock lines are typically available for next working day delivery to the UK mainland, dispatched from our Coventry (CV4 9AP) depot. Custom sizes and bespoke colours usually run to 2–4 weeks depending on specification. Give us the postcode and the quantity and we will confirm a date rather than a range.
No. We supply single pallets and full loads alike, and there is no maximum either. For smaller quantities it is worth asking about used and refurbished stock, which carries the same handling characteristics at lower cost.
Yes, from our Coventry (CV4 9AP) depot on most stock lines. Call ahead so the order is picked and waiting, and tell us your vehicle type so we can confirm access and loading.
Send us the load, the postcode and what you store, and we will specify the right pallet or bund and price it.
